Godwin's Law

The authority of Godwin is not necessarily acknowledged on this wiki but his wit and wisdom continue to be debated, as evidenced in Godwin's Law Rejected and Godwin Rating. More on Wiki and www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/legends/godwin

Winning - the rules

When one party to a debate likens the other to Hitler, the other party has won. But invoking Godwin's Law means that you lose and the Hitler-comparer wins. But then Winning Isn't Everything.

Interesting possible areas of application

Vegetarianism is something that Hitler would have done. Did do, actually. Hitler thought it was morally wrong to kill animals for food.

Interesting test case. See Hitler The Vegetarian.

Hitler also believed in a Third Reich. Did he only have himself to blame?

Actually, Hitler did his best to persuade his fellow Germans to avoid the Third Reich.

But more later than earlier. See Selling And Compelling.
