Diana Mitford

Died recently as Diana Mosley or Lady Mosley.

Her undying admiration for the good manners of Hitler was not endearing, nor was her studied ignorance, at best, of her husband's use of the crudest Anti-Semitism in the 1930s in his British Union Of Fascists. Oswald Mosely came of course to fascism straight from the Labour Party. No surprises there. (And it's not a cheap shot. There were some great democrats and patriots in the labour movement. But the divide between certain totalitarian kinds of socialist and national socialists was wafer thin, right across Europe.)

But note from Walter Sickert that she knew Winston Churchill and family very well in earlier days, for she was Clementine's cousin.
