Why Clublet Editorial Policy

I have just enjoyed a few excellent Belgium beers this evening with Keith, to celebrate initial migration of Wiki pages. It's one of the hardest things about hosting a clublet together, this kind of drinking, but Keith and I am determined to see it through. -- Richard

We hope that we'll be hosts in the sense of a party host, courteous and welcoming, and expecting consideration in return. Think of this as Richard and Keith's joint "what's it all about" theme party (at Richard's house, don't break his furniture, and don't spill my beer). -- Keith

Other Aspects of the Policy

I have a wish for this clublet ... that we edit not delete. That the hosts were more like Ward Cunningham as he never interfered with or ran how his wiki went in any direction. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has noticed, but it seems some people don't come here any more who may or may not agree with me or others. Wonder why that is? Wonder why most recent changes don't have that wonderful variety of names, but just a few? Hummmmm... makes you wonder. --Kathy Bracy

The interesting thing is that Why only exists because Ward did interfere, in an unprecedented way, by asking me to take the Christian pages right off Wiki. He indicated when he asked that he thought that I had played a major, positive role in preventing that debate, which you had such a big role in starting, from wrecking Wiki completely. I didn't want to comply with Ward's request, to be honest, for a vast number of reasons. But now that I have, and Keith has agreed to join me in hosting it, I am much more interested in encouraging quality than the number of contributions here. I wouldn't mind the contributions increasing, if they are ones that both Keith and I agree are of a reasonable quality (and we have been quite up front about our role in assessing quality, right from the start). The reason: there are too many stupid and negative debates about Christianity everywhere one looks on the net. So I am very keen not to have stupid and negative debate here and not to deal solely with Christianity. It would be cool not to be the main contributor myself. But if you challenge the hosting policy I will quite probably respond. -- Richard Drake
